You Have To See it To Believe it

We live in a world today where experiencing media through a screen has become ubiquitous. We are constantly surrounded by devices such as iPads, Kindles, phones, laptops, and televisions. With this new technology comes new opportunities to discover new levels of thought and creation. Rather than just being zoned into them all the time, the advantages that technology can offer are being explored, especially by the artists of naturetech.

One of naturetech’s esteemed artists, Cristi Rinklin, has taken an immensely innovative approach to art that would not have been possible ten years prior to now. Rinklin, a painter, takes her works, photographs them, and then scans them into her computer. Using synthetic colors, she is able to distort the images and create new works of digitalized art. By employing the use of her computer and programs like photoshop, Rinklin is able to present her paintings possessing a sense of virtual reality and giving them a unique, virtualized look unlike other painters. Cristi Rinklin’s fantastical images pull viewers into her different originated worlds and makes them believe the reality of what they are seeing.

In the image below, called Ecstatic Beautification, Cristi truly showcases how the progress of technology has helped her to create a uniquely vibrant landscape painting.

Although the image was altered through technological computer processes, this image, along with all of Cristi Rinklin’s other works, was taken out of her own reality. Since technology has advanced so significantly, Rinklin is able to create her own virtual realities within her paintings and showcase them to others. This causes the viewer to believe that the impossible spaces created within them can potentially exist.
